Description A new method to make spot joints between aluminum alloy sheets and steel sheets for automotive applications will be studied. In this method, a steel element or rivet is first mechanically mounted through the aluminum sheet and then welded (by resistance welding) onto the steel sheet. During the work, junction technological tests will be carried out and the resulting joints will be examined by mechanical tests and metallographic observations. The work will take place at the Mirafiori site (Corso Settembrini, Turin) of the FIAT Research Center (CRF). The thesis can also be carried out together with a curricular stage having a similar subject.
