Thesis type EXPERIMENTAL

Description The scope of the thesis is studying and analyzing 15 minutes consumption data coming from Second Generation Main Meters, with the aim of extracting valuable information deliverable to end user and energy companies. Some soft-NILM (Not Intrusive Load Monitoring) techniques will be adopted for detecting useful energy insights triggering recommendations for end users, as well as clustering, data analytics and Machine Learning techniques.
The candidate will be required to:
1. study the state-of-art in 15 minutes energy data analysis
2. design the insights and data correlation to be developed
3. develop a software framework resulting the expected results designed in bullet 2
4. build a final “demo” embedding the results got in bullet 3 into an already existing web dashboard

The thesis will be supported by the startup Midori.
Midori is a startup founded in Turin and hosted at the Innovative Companies Incubator of the Polytechnic University of Turin (I3P – www.i3p.it). The team is made of young researchers, engineers, and a psychologist: all of them motivated and passionate. Midori builds smart metering and energy analysis tools, addressed to businesses and citizens. The products and services are a mix of technological and social innovation, the outcome of the union between high competences in the ICT world and signal processing, with a strong inclination to the analysis of the social needs in the world of energy. Midori collaborates with high-profile national and international companies and we intend to grow always more, until we become a landmark in Italy in the field of Smart Building.
