Description The internship+thesis thesis is developed in collaboration with PUNCH Torino S.p.A.
The goals of the thesis are:
- Develop a robust methodology to evaluate the bolt bending stress (alternating stress) for the ICE crankshaft nose bolt
- Validate the methodology through finite element analysis.
Description:
Excessive radial loads due to front end accessory drive could cause damper bolt fracture for bending fatigue. The objective of this study is to assess the strength of the crankshaft assembly against this type of failure. With a symmetrical geometry, the problem could be simplified and classical bending equations could be used to evaluate the damper bolt bending stress and the crankshaft nose fillet bending stress.
The objective of this activity is the creation of a tool that evaluates alternating stress and the validation of the methodology through structural stress analysis.
Notes Interested candidates should send to cristiana.delprete@polito.it CV completed by all exams (bachelor degree and master degree) with relative marks
