Effects of climate change on the hydrology of the Alps according to the ISI-MIP database

Reference persons ALBERTO VIGLIONE

Description ISI-MIP data (https://www.isimip.org/protocol/2b/) are available on https://www.isimip.org/about/ and contain simulations of outflow generated on pixels of 0.5 deg (50x50 km to the equator) on a daily scale with different climate and hydrological models.
The work aims to answer the following questions:
- what is the spatial distribution of different characteristics of the simulated runoff in the present conditions (e.g. average runoff, seasonality, lean indexes, flood indexes)?
- how will this spatial distribution vary in the future, based on the ISI-MIP simulations?
- what are the uncertainties that can be found in the model ensemble?
A work to be inspired by, but with rather advanced methods, is https://doi.org/10.1029/2020WR027897.
The student's propensity / availability for programming is required. Grid data manipulation software (NetCDF, https://www.unidata.ucar.edu/software/netcdf/docs/index.html) such as CDO (Climate Data Operators, https: //code.mpimet) will be used. mpg.de/projects/cdo) and for statistical analyzes, alternatively, R, Julia, Python or Matlab.
