Description The techno-economic characterization of the power sector in TIMES-Italy model (implemented also in TEMOA-Italy) dates back to 2011 and especially future cost projections require a thorough revision. On the other hand, research advancements in renewable energies make some other new types of technologies available (e.g., wave power) or improve existing technologies. After the updating of the power sector to the most recent available power technologies and characterization, new scenarios with high penetration of renewables or with focus on more efficient technologies will be developed and analysed, aiming at identifying possible decarbonization pathways for the Italian energy system and check their sustainability according to a recently-developed sustainability metrics.
