Thesis type EXPERIMENTAL

Description In bone tissue engineering research, bioreactors designed for replicating the main features of the complex native environment represent powerful investigation tools.
The starting point is an automated uni-/bi-directional perfusion bioreactor for culturing 3D bone tissue models realized by the mechanical dept. of Polto.
After some preliminary tests with commercial instrumentation to identify the best measurement parameters, the student should design a device, to be integrated into the bioreactor, that measures, by electrical impedance, the percentage of bone tissue growth inside the scaffold.
Once the prototype is ready, it will be used for long-term experient of bone tissue growth.

Required skills Basics of analog circuit design, Basics of microcontroller programming, Signal processing
