keywords ELECTRONICS, PRECISION AGRICULTURE, PRIMARY BATTERIES
Reference persons DANILO DEMARCHI, UMBERTO GARLANDO
Thesis type EXPERIMENTAL
Description One of the main goals in the following decade is to reduce the carbon footprint due to anthropic activities: precision agriculture is one of the solutions in such a way as to find the best set of optimal solutions to reduce resource waste in agriculture activities, improving the sustainability of the food supply chain.
In a first stage, candidate will characterize a commercial integrated circuit for battery monitoring for primary batteries (ex. LiSOCl2 chemistry batteries) designed for harsh environments as agriculture orchards. A demonstration board will help both to understand the functionalities of the chip and develop a portable library written in C for low-power microcontrollers.
Finally, candidate could implement his/her knowledge in the hardware development of autonomous custom IoT boards for precision agriculture developed in our research group.
