Thesis type EXPERIMENTAL AND MODELING
Description The thesis work will focus on the use of Machine Learning (ML) and Artificial Intelligence (AI) tools to investigate and model the experimental data coming from a system of 16 weigh-in-motion (WIM) devices deployed on a 52 km-long segment of the A3 Highway (Naples-Pompei-Salerno).
These newly-developed, data-driven models will be then used to predict traffic-induced actions and loads. Finally, these experimentally-supported models will be compared to the current state-of-the-art approaches for highway bridge design and assessment.
Required skills at least basic knowledge of Matlab, Python, or similar programming codes
