Dynamic identification and modelling of data-driven thresholds for structural health monitoring of an Autostrade per l'Italia viaduct
Thesis in external company
keywords DYNAMIC IDENTIFICATION, FE MODEL UPDATING, FE MODELLING, STRUCTURAL HEALTH MONITORING
Reference persons MARCO CIVERA
External reference persons Ing. Dario Coletta (MOVYON- gruppo Autostrade per l'Italia)
Thesis type COLLABORATION WITH A COMPANY, MODELING AND EXPERIMENTAL
Description The thesis work falls in the context of the National Center for Sustainable Mobility (CN MOST), Spoke 7 WP 4, coordinated at the national level by the Polytechnic of Turin and Movyon SpA as the industrial partner.
Specifically, starting from one of two highway viaducts currently under continuous and permanent structural health monitoring, the student will be required to:
Analyse the data (from either static or dynamic monitoring, depending on the selected use case)
to realise an alert threshold system for Structural Health Monitoring on the real use case under consideration.
Potentially, based on existing BIM models, the student could also develop a finite element model on SAP 2000 and calibrate the FE model based on the same monitoring data
Average grade required: >= 27/30
Required skills previous knowledge of Matlab is required
Deadline 01/01/2026
