Description The research activity is focused at the develoment of techniques for the characterization of thermoplastic materials processed by additive manufacturing (SLS and FDM). The final mechanical properties are affected by the sample shape, the additive manufacturing technique and the processing parameters, therefore this correlation should be investigated. To this purpose tensile, compression and shear tests will be performed on thermoplastic materials (polyamide and styrene). The reseach activity is aimed at the validation of automotive components in terms of thermal-mechanical behavior and durability.

Required skills Knowledge of fundamentals of Materials Engineering, Chemistry and Mechanics.
