Description A “virtual laboratory” is defined as an interactive environment that enables a group of researchers located around the world to work together for creating and conducting simulated experiments. Virtual laboratories are also receiving an increasing attention by the world of education, as they could represent the practical side of online classes that are implemented today according to the Massive Open Online Courses (MOOC) paradigm. The goal of this thesis work is to design and develop a virtual laboratory platform letting users access experimentation resources through both Virtual Reality (VR) and Web technologies in a collaborative way. To this purpose, modern approaches to human-machine interaction based on natural user interfaces and tailored to both desktop and for immersive virtual environments will be explored.
