Description The canditate will perform an depth analysis of the mechanical power losses on a spinning flywheel. Such flywheel is installed in a WEC device called ISWEC. The ISWEC is a pitching device composed by a floating hull carrying inside a gyroscopic system to extract power from waves. The work will focus on the influence of the scale factor of the device, with the aim to demonstrate the variability of the efficiency respect to the size. Numerical tools: Matlab Simulink(Experimental campaign results analysis). The work will include the construction of a scaled flywheel to demonstrate the mathematical relations used to compute the mechanical losses of the device.
