keywords INSTREAM HABITAT MODELLING
Reference persons PAOLO VEZZA
Thesis type TESI DI RICERCA
Description Modelling instream habitat is currently used in Italy and Europe to design ecological flows in natural rivers and evaluate possible environmental management scenarios. The purpose of the research is to further develop a modelling platform able quantify the impact of hydrological and morphological alterations in large braided rivers (i.e., Trebbia, Taro, Enza Rivers). Research activities will be carried out in collaboration with the University of Parma. Field data collection, analysis of historical aerial photography, morphological characterization of water courses, 2-D hydraulic modelling are the most important reseacrh activities.
