Thesis type DESIGN AND SIMULATIONS

Description Dental aligners are dentistry equipment used to set correctly the position of the teeth when the original one must be modified. This devices are made by an elastic structure in plastic thermoformed material which is suitably shaped according to a mold which reproduces actual shape and position of the teeth. After the thermoforming phase, finishing by tooling machine is needed. Now finishing is manually performed. The goal of this thesis is to analyze the possibility of carrying out this operation with an automatic robotized system. The activities include the analysis of the current process, the definition of the requirements for a robotized system, the definition of one or more possible layout, the analysis in a simulation environment and the output should be a preliminary project. It is possible to be involved in a stage in a laboratory where these devices are manufactured.

Required skills The frequency of the course in mechatronics for students in mechanical engineering is useful
