Description Blockchain technology is receiving an ever-growing attention from the industrial field, as it enables the creation of a trusted, tamper-proof, shared ledger, which could be written and read by multiple parties, without the need of external control. With blockchain and smart contracts, a high number of existing processes belonging to different sectors could be streamlined, by making them even more automated and decentralized. The objective of this proposal is to study how blockchain technology could be applied in an automotive context. Focus could be both on technical and business aspects, which may be addressed by different students. In particular, students will first perform an analysis of most renowned blockchain frameworks and of existing/envisaged blockchain-based applications in the automotive sector. This analysis will allow them to identify one or more use cases worth of further in-depth analysis and development. For the selected use case(s) a novel solution will be realized. Realization will encompass the definition of system's requirements (based on existing best practices), as well as the design and implementation of a prototype implementation. Students should possess/acquire managerial and/or coding skills.
