Thesis type EXPERIMENTAL

Description The thesis student will sintetize new catalysts materials by using wet techniques. Then, preparation of membrane-electrode-assemblies (MEA) integrating proton exchange membranes and catalysts supported in conductive substrates will also be stuied. The catalyst deposition will be optimized with different catalysts and inks formulations, by using scalable techniques like spray-coating (with an automatized instrument). The MEA will be tested in a 3D printed home-made device (also under optimization) for the electrocatalytic CO2 conversion to high-added value products (i.e. hydrocarbons, alcohols like methanol or propanol, and other oxygenates).
Several characterization techniques will be used to study the physico-chemical properties of the prepared materials. Analytical instruments will be employed for the electrochemical tests and chemical characterization of the reaction products.
The experimental activities will be done at the SOLAR FUELS LAB, at DISAT department, in the framework of European (e.g. https://suncochem.eu/) and Industrial Projects.
The thesis has to be written in English.
