Water footprint of agricultural goods
Thesis abroad
Reference persons STEFANIA TAMEA
Description The water footprint indicator is a novel metric to quantify the use of freshwater resources in the production of goods and services. In particular for agricultural goods, the water volumes are quantified along the supply chain, starting from the modelling of soil water balance and crop growth and taking into account the hydro-climatic forcings. The water footprint indicator can be a tool to consider different topics, including the variability of hydro-climatic forcings, the connections between food and socio-economic systems, the sustainability of production and consumption, or the optimal management of water resources.
