Nano material for X-ray/ radioactive radiation shielding in cement composite

Reference persons GIUSEPPE ANDREA FERRO, LUCIANA RESTUCCIA

External reference persons PRAVIN JAGDALE

Description The aim of this research is to study Bismuth based nano particles in cement composite for X-ray and or radioactive radiation shielding. Bismuth based nano material has a higher atomic number which helps to increase the attenuation of radiation. Environmental, Health hazardous and cost effective point of view, Bismuth based nano particles are consider better than traditionally used shielding material like Lead, gold, tungsten or mercury. Bismuth based Nano particles are recyclable and safe for non-hazardous disposal. Different weight percentages of Bismuth based Nano particles in cement can be use.

Objectives-

1) Synthesis of Bismuth based nano particles by Thermal oxidation.
2) Use different wt. % of Bismuth based nano fillers in cement composites
3) Study the X-ray/ radioactive radiation shielding in cement composite.
