The Sino-Italian Campus was born in 2005, supported by the MIUR (Ministero dell’Università e della Ricerca/ Ministry of Education, University and Research of Italy). Financially supported by the Ministry and sponsored by Compagnia di San Paolo, the Campus is the starting point of a collaboration between the two countries on the higher education field. 

 The application criteria are extremely selective. The main goal of the project is to help creating a new Chinese managerial group open towards Italy and, at the same time, to create a new Italian managerial group with knowledge of the Chinese system. 

 Effective from September 2006, the Campus provides joint careers, coordinated by a mixed board of Chinese and Italian teachers. For the Engineering area, the partners of the project, called Politong, are Politecnico di Torino, Politecnico di Milano and Tongji of Shanghai which is also the place where lessons are held. 

 A characteristic of the Campus is the link and the integration between students from both countries. From Politecnico di Torino side 136 Chinese students and 82 Italian students have taken part into the project so far.
