Internal transfers - Bachelor's degree programmes

In order to be allowed to change degree programme and/or system you must meet certain requirements which might be different according to the programme/system of origin and destination.

In order  to request a change of degree programme and/or system, you must verify if you are required to sit the admission test, or if you are exempted from taking it. You can check this information through the “Apply” procedure, available on your personal page of the Teaching Portal.

If you are required to take the admission test, you will have to submit your internal transfer request after you obtain the positive result of the test.

We remind you that you are allowed to transfer internally from a degree programme taught in Italian to one taught in English, or viceversa:
  • only one time during your academic career;
  • only if you have not taken nor registered any exams of second-year courses (even in case you are enrolled in years following the first).

If you are regularly enrolled at Politecnico di Torino and you intend to internally transfer to another degree programme, you must meet the language requirements for admission to Bachelor’s degree programmes (listed in the Language requirements table).

We also remind you that you cannot request an internal transfer during first year. Moreover, you cannot withdraw from studies and subsequently enrol in a programme in the same year.

Internal transfers between Bachelor’s degree programmes in the Enginering area (belonging to the system established by Ministerial Decree No.  270/04)

In order to change Bachelor’s degree programme (Engineering area), you can send an internal transfer request IF you meet the following academic requirements:
  • an internal transfer to a new Bachleor’s degree programme in Engineering (except for Industrial Production Engineering) is possible only if you have obtained at least 28 credits within the September examination session in the following subjects: Mathematical Analysis I, Chemistry, Computer Science, Physics I and Geometry (excluding optional courses and English language). For transfers to programmes which are offered in English, you must hold the IELTS 5.0 certificate or equivalent/higher certification.
  • for an internal transfer from any Bachelor’s degree programme of the Engineering area to the programme in “Industrial Production”, you must have passed, within the September examination session, the following exams: Mathematical Analysis I, Computer Science, Physics I and Geometry, for a total of 38 credits. Given the peculiarity of this course, if you enter by means of an internal transfer, you will be able to study abroad at a partner University in the year following the one in which the transfer took place.
In case you do not meet the above mentioned requirements, you will have to take the admission test and coveniently place yourself  in the ranking list.

Internal transfers FROM Bachelor’s degree programmes of the Engineering area (old system M.D. 509/99 or prior) TO Bachelor’s degree programmes of the Engineering area  (system M.D. No. 270/04)

Changes of system (ordinamento) for programmes with the same denomination or similar name (see table no.2) are possible without having to take the admission test.
In order to transfer to a programme that has a different denomination, students are required to take the admission test and to conveniently place themselves in the merit ranking list.

Internal transfers FROM Bachelor’s degree programmes of the Engineering area (any system) TO Bachelor’s degree programmes of the Architecture area (system M.D. 270/04) and viceversa

In order to transfer, students are required to take the admission test and to conveniently place themselves in the merit ranking list.

How to update your Annual Personal Study Plan

If you internally transfer to a new Bachelor’s degree programme of the Engineering area, you can insert in your Annual Personal Study Plan some courses belonging to years following the first. This is possible only if, during your previous degree programme, you had obtained at least 28 credits in the following subjects: MAT/03, MAT/05, CHIM/07, ING-INF/05, FIS/01, or equivalent, or, if you had obtained at least 40 credits in any subject (excluding the English language exam).
In any case, first of all you will have to insert first-year courses that are still pending.
In case you have any academic deficiency, you will be allowed to insert in your APSP first-year courses only.

Deadline:
23rd  September 2016

How to request an internal transfer:

We remind you that you MUST NOT define your Personal Study Plan / Annual Personal Study Plan for the new academic year if you are going to request an internal transfer. You can submit your internal transfer request DURING the SEPTEMBER EXAMINATION SESSION (and take exams at the same time), but the resolution on the evaluation of previous academic records shall not be accepted until all exams are registered – see point 6:
  1. log into your personal page of the Teaching Portal;
  2. log into the Apply section;
  3. select the desired degree programme using  the button “Scegli percorso/ select your programme”
  4. confirm your data and submit the internal transfer request;
  5. wait for the outcome of the evaluation (carried out by the Programme academic coordinator - referente cds)  – you can check the result in the section “Valutazioni”/ “Evaluations” available on your “Apply” personal page;
  6. in case of positive result (Apply message: request accepted), you have to choose whether to accept or reject the internal transfer decision.
    If you are still waiting for some grades to be recorded (for exams taken in the September session), you must wait until all exam grades are recorded before you can confirm your internal transfer.
  7. after accepting the internal transfer resolution from the “Apply” section and, in any case, within 10 days from the date of acceptance, you can enrol in the 2016/2017 academic year. Log in to “Segreteria on line” and choose the service named “"Compila il piano carriera- carico didattico"/ “Fill in your PSP/APSP”.
  Please note that the cost of the internal transfer request (50 Euro) will be charged only if, after seeing the results of the evaluation of previous academic records, you decide not to confirm the internal transfer.
