The University Student Ombudsman
Since the year 2000, the Statute (art.18) has established the role of the University Student Ombudsman:

1. The Ombudsman is appointed by the Joint Committee for Teaching. He/she has the function of safeguarding students and is selected from among the first segment professors who do not belong to the Committee itself.
2. On the basis of reports received by the students, and having undertaken the necessary inquiries, the Ombudsman proposes appropriate action to the competent bodies and reports to the Committee.
3. In matters involving issues of personal privacy the Ombudsman reports directly to the Rector.

As far as students’ reports and notifications are concerned, the following procedure has been put in place by the Ombudsman:

You can report your problem in a message, reasonably specifying the details of your issue.
The message can be sent by e-mail to garante.studenti@polito.it, or by surface mail to:

Garante degli Studenti

Politecnico di Torino
Corso Duca degli Abruzzi, 24
10129 - Torino

Your e-mail or letter must be signed and has to include your contact details, so the Ombudsman can get back to you. E-mails shall not have any attached documents; the text must be completely written in the e-mail body. Other possible documents (for instance, a collection of signatures) must be addresses to the Ombudsman and need to bear a reference to the e-mail (sender, date, time).

The Ombudsman can only receive written notifications and is not available over the phone. If needed, the Ombudsman will get in touch with you by e-mail or call you. In case of a notification received by a group of students, the Ombudsman will contact the person representing the group.

The Ombudsman will adopt any possible action to safeguard the privacy of the students who decide to contact him/her, when this is possible. Every message is filed and will remain available for further actions which might be useful to other students in the same situation.
