Career credit recognition for Bachelor's degree programmes

If you hold  a university qualification and you intend to request the evaluation of your career in order to obtain another Bachelor’s degree, you must verify, through the Apply procedure, if you need to take the admission test or if you are exempted from it, depending on the university qualification you have got.

For the Engineering area, please note the following:

-  the admission test is COMPLUSORY if you hold a Bachelor’s degree in any disciplinary area  not related to engineering;

-  you are EXEMPTED from taking the admission test if you hold a Bachelor’s degree/diploma, awarded by an Italian university, and related to the engineering area or to a scientific area belonging to the classes listed in the table of qualifications with exemption from the TIL-I (Allegato C – Bando TIL). In this case you are allowed to request the career credit recognition without taking the admission test.

What to do in case you have to take the admission test

You shall register for the admission test by the deadlines of the desired Bachelor’s degree programme.

  • If you hold a Bachelor’s degree awarded by Politecnico di Torino, you shall apply for admission to the desired programme, through the “Apply” procedure available on your personal page of the Teaching Portal. You shall use the student number of your previous career at Politecnico.
  • If you hold a Bachelor’s degree awarded by another university, you shall apply for admission to the desired programme, through the Apply procedure available on the website of Politecnico. There you shall insert the details of your previous career.
If you pass the admission test, you can apply for career credit recognition, though the “Apply” page. You shall pay the first instalment of tuition fees by 23rd September 2016 (in order to confirm your decision to actually enrol in the programme).

The amount due is a fixed fee and it is the same for all candidates, both for those choosing part-time enrolment, and for those enrolling as full-time students.

In case of part-time enrolment, the balance of the tuition fees for the year will be due at the moment of the definition of the Personal Study Plan/Annual Personal Study Plan.
Payment methods are illustrated in the Fee regulations and in the Fee Guide 2016/2017.

After the payment has been done, the Programme academic coordinator (referente cds) will evaluate your previous academic records and possibly recognize previous credits. The results of the evaluation will be available on the Apply page, under the section “VALUTAZIONI”/”EVALUATIONS”.

After the evaluation has been carried out, you will be able confirm and accept the decision and proceed with on-line enrolment. You will be assigned a student number by the system. You will be offered an appointment for you to go to the Office of Student Services. The appointment can be modified. On the day of the appointment, you will have to go to the Office of Student Services with the personal identification document that you used during the enrolment process. You should also bring your original English language certificates, if you have any.

Upon completion of the necessary verifications, the Office of Student Services will give you your Smart-card.

Lastly, you will have to define your Personal Study Plan and fill in your Annual Personal Study Plan. This operation needs to be done within 10 days from the date of enrolment.

If you hold a university qualification of the same or lower level compared to the degree programme for which you have applied and you choose to enrol as a full-time student, you will not be able to apply for fee reduction.

If you choose part-time enrolment, you are required to pay a fixed fee and a variable fee depending on the number of credits you intend to purchase. The payment shall take place at the end of the procedure for the definition of the Personal Study Plan/Annual Personal Study Plan.

What to do in case of exemption from the admission test

If you hold a Bachelor’s degree awarded by Politecnico di Torino, you shall send the request for Career credit recognition, through the “Apply” section available on your personal page of the Teaching Portal. You shall use the student number of your previous career at Politecnico.
