FREE CREDITS (12 CFU)

You can acquire free credits with the following training activities:

COURSES SUGGESTED BY THE UNIVERSITY CATALOGUE  ( 2nd year free credits - 3rd year free credits)
Courses offered by the University Catalogue, counting towards the number of necessary free credits, will be assigned to students on the basis of merit, taking into account the order of preference  you indicated when you defined your Annual Personal Study Plan ( see PROCEDURES FOR THE DEFINITION OF THE PSP /APSP).
When foreseen, course allocation will take into account the number of places reserved to students of the following Collegi: Architecture, Design and Planning and Design.

If more than one student with the same position in the ranking list choose the same course and places are not sufficient to satisfy all of them. In this case the course will be offered to those students who have the highest number of exams passed with honours; subsequently, remaining places will be randomly allocated by a computerized draw.

When you define your APSP, you need to insert the name and generic code illustrated in the Teaching portale under the section: “Offerta formativa – Piano degli Studi – Programmi dei corsi” / “Course catalogue – Curriculum – Course syllabi”.

When to choose the order of preference of courses suggested by the University catalogue

1st semester courses

  • from 27th July to 21st September 2016 (first phase - merit ranking)
  • from 4th October 2016 at 10 am (choice on the basis of available places)
2nd semester courses
  • from 16th to 23rd February 2017 (first phase - merit ranking)
  • from 28th February 1st March at 10 am to 7th march 2017 (choice on the basis of available places)
(Aggiornamento effettuato in data 16/01/2017)

The merit ranking is calculated as follows:

Merit score calculation:

(grade1 * CFU1) + (grade2 * CFU2) + (graden + CFUn) + (overall weighted average * CFU suitability)
__________________________________________________________________________________
number of semesters from first enrolment in the university system

The calculation of the number of semesters begins with the first enrolment in the university system; the calculation of the score only takes into account the grades of the exams validated by Politecnico di Torino.

For the allocation of 1st semester courses, the merit score takes into account the exams taken by the July 2016 examination session.
For the allocation of 2nd semester courses, the merit score takes into account the exams taken by the September 2016 examination session.

How to express the order of preference of the courses suggested by the University catalogue

Allocation on the basis of merit
At the end of the definition of the PSP/APSP  through your personal page of the Teaching portal, you will be redirected to a new page offering several choices relatedexclusively to the generic codes inserted in your APSP.
You will be able to establish an oder of preference using the arrow or dragging and dropping the course titles, as shown in picture 1:

You can repeat this procedure until the closure of the period dedicated to the definition of the Annual Personal Study Plan.

Choice of courses with residual seats (after the allocation on the basis of merit)

If, for any reason, you haven’t chosen your free credits by the deadline, you will be offered the possibility to choose a single preference among the courses with residual seats.

Log into your personal page of the Teaching Portal, go to the section “SEGRETERIA ON-LINE”, then select “ACCEDI/ACCESS” from the box named “COMPILA PIANO CARRIERA – CARICO DIDATTICO/FILL IN YOUR PSP /APSP”. The system will show the list of courses with residual seats, as illustrated in picture no.2:

In this phase you should pay careful attention to the course you are selecting.  In fact, once you confirm your choice, it cannot be modified.

LEARNING ACTIVITIES OUTSIDE THE UNIVERSITY
The rules for the acquisition of free credits through external training activities are published  in the Course catalogue, Curriculum, under the section  “Training activities outside the University”.

ADDITIONAL FOREIGN LANGUAGES (3 CFU)

If you have a language certificate of a foreign language other than the compulsory languages envisaged by  your degree programme, you can ask for its recognition at any time of your career. The request shall be submitted from your personal page of the Teaching Portal, where you also have to upload a copy of your language certificate. If your request is accepted, you will have to show the original language certificate at the counters of the Office of Student Services.

A table of  the accepted languages certificates for French, Spanish and German ((link: https://didattica.polito.it/cla/it/certificazioni) is available on the CLA’s website. If your certificate is not included in the list or is referred to another foreign language, it will be sent to the CLA for evaluation.

STUDENT TEAM ACTIVITIES
If you participate in the activities of a student team, you can ask for the recognition of this activity. The request shall be submitted from your personal page of the Teaching Portal. The team leader will have to certify the nature of your activity and the amount of time you have dedicated to it. On the basis of such information the Supervisor of your degree programme will decide whether to accept your recognition request and evaluate the number of credits you will be assigned (3 or 6 credits).
