The
Equality Committee (Comitato Unico di Garanzia –
CUG) is a parity committee that supports
all groups at Politecnico di Torino: faculty members, administrative staff
members, research fellows and students. The duration of its mandate is
determined by the
Statute (art. 17, paragraph 3).
The
function of the Committee is to promote equal opportunities of work and study for
all. To this end, it implements measures to prevent and oppose all forms of
discrimination based on sex, sexual orientation, race, ethnic origin, religion,
personal and political convictions, disability and age. The committee can make
proposals,
offer
advice and conduct
assessments. Information
on the initiatives promoted by the
CUG is available on the dedicate section of
the University web site.
The
Committee has one student representative, selected from
among the representatives of the Academic Senate and the Board of Directors.
The
composition of the Equality Committee is set out in article 17, paragraph 2 of
the Statute: the CUG current President is Cristina Coscia and the
Vice-President is Paola Vigliani.

Upon proposal of the Committee, the Rector appoints a
Confidential Counsellor (Consigliera di
Fiducia), who does not belong to the University. He/she has the task of
providing advice and assistance to staff and students in any case of sexual or
moral harassment or discriminatory behaviour.
The role of the Confidential
Counsellor has been established in accordance with the Code of Conduct for the
protection of the dignity of female and male workers and students at
Politecnico di Torino.
