When you first enrol at Politecnico you get an appointment with the Office of the University Registrar or with the Office of Student Services to collect your Smart Card (Sistema Universitario Piemontese).
This card is much more than a simple university ID document. Your Smart Card includes your photo, personal data and enrolment information. It also has a CPU with lots of information that are normally stored in various cards, such as the
GTT bus pass or
BIP(Biglietto Integrato Piemonte), the
Pyou Card and the
To Bike Card.
You can use your Smart Card to pay your meals in university canteens and EDISU Piemonte restaurants since it also works as a reloadable prepaid card. You can get special deals and use some of the services offered by CUS (Centro Universitario Sportivo).
As a Politecnico student you are automatically a member of this Sports Centre.
Practical information
Your Smart Card is personal and you are supposed to take good care of it. If you lose or damage it, you can ask for a replacement Smart Card at the Office of the University Registrar. You will be chared a fee unless you have an official theft report.
Faculty and staff members are entitled to withdraw your Smart Card if it looks damaged or if it does not allow your identification (i.e., blurry photo).
For students enrolled in the second semestrer the deadline to pick up the smart card is the 19th of June 2020.
