This course provides a blended learning experience aiming at developing advanced knowledge and specific skills in the broad area of sports physiology.
Cardio-pulmonary, metabolic, musculoskeletal and endocrine adaptations to sport specific needs will be presented.
Selected and representative sports’ physiological profiles will be analysed and discussed. Assessment methodologies as well as athletes’ health monitoring strategies will be shown.
Lectures will put emphasis on the interplay between the exercising human body and the surrounding environment.
Seminars will be organised and the syllabus will be enriched by assignments, practicals and a two-day ’hands-on’ workshop delivered at the prestigious CONI exercise physiology laboratory in Rome, Italy, in collaboration with "Scuola dello Sport" experts.
At the end of this course the student will be able to identify and to select the most appropriate sport physiology parameters and the best strategies to monitor athletes health, to optimise training and to enhance performance.
