Description A BBO algorithm has already been successfully used for a very demanding heat transfer problem such as the cooling of the Gyrotron cavity. The optimization process consists in a first step in which the BBO is coupled to a finite element thermo-mechanical quasi 2D simulation aimed to find the optimal heat transfer coefficient axial profile. A second step consists in designing a cooling configuration able to reproduce the desired HTC profile. In order to verify the efficiency of the optimization method chosen a comparative analysis with other evolutionary algorithm is of particular interest. The student will have to perform the optimization exercise with different evolutionary algorithm comparing the results and the performances of the different methods.
