Description A BBO algorithm has already been successfully used for a very demanding heat transfer problem such as the cooling of the Gyrotron cavity. The optimization process consists in a first step in which the BBO is coupled to a finite element thermo-mechanical quasi 2D simulation aimed to find the optimal heat transfer coefficient axial profile. A second step consists in designing a cooling configuration able to reproduce the desired HTC profile. The aim of the thesis is to design a cooling configuration equipped with azimuthal mini-channels which could reproduce the desired optimal HTC profile.
