Description A BBO algorithm has already been successfully used for a very demanding heat transfer problem such as the cooling of the Gyrotron cavity. The optimization process consists in a first step in which the BBO is coupled to a finite element thermo-mechanical quasi 2D simulation aimed to find the optimal heat transfer coefficient axial profile. A second step consists in designing a cooling configuration able to reproduce the desired HTC profile. In order to demonstrate the efficacy of the method we want to apply it to another cooling problem, such as the cooling of the mirrors of the Gyrotron transmission line or launcher. The student will have to define a proper optimization problem, individuating the right objective function and constraints, and adapt the already used algorithm to the new optimization problem.
