keywords FPGA, INDUCTION HEATING, INVERTERS, POWER FACTOR

Reference persons FRANCESCO MUSOLINO, FABIO PARESCHI

Thesis type EXPERIMENTAL, IN COMPANY

Description Frequency converters for induction heating applications, with their low power factor, introduce a high level of hormonic distorsion.
This Master's Degree Thesis aims to design and implement a modular active filter for large power ratings so that to minimize the harmonic distorsion of the current and the power factor.
More specifically, the Thesis consists in exploiting an already existing hardware platform (based on the Altera Cyclone V FPGA) to implent the algorithms for managing an inverter previously fabricated.
The hardare is available to validate the algorithms designed during this activity by performing specific experimental tests.
The extected result is a complete working system.

Required skills FPGA, microprocessor or DSP programming
Basic knowledge about control techniques of power electronic converters
Basic knowledge about power DC-AC converters (the inverters)
