Description The thesis work will focus on a challenging industrial automation problem: the junction of two sheet of soft material (e.g., paper of any kind) that are fed at very high velocity. State-of-the-art solutions aim at reducing the velocity near the junction of the two extremes, leaving unaltered the process velocity before and after the junction phase. In collaboration with IIT, we are studying alternative solutions that can overcome this limitation. The student will study the process, propose innovative solutions, propose a new conceptual and functional of the system by modeling and controlling the high-speed process.

Notes The student shall spend some time at IIT - Genova at his expenses to work in collaboration with the local research team.
