Description Trace compounds contained in the biogas, produced from several substrates have a huge variety of organic compounds. These compounds can be detrimental for SOFC performance, mainly due to their concentration level and for their chemical nature. It is possible to identify and to monitor: sulfur and chloro compounds, carbonyls and carboxyls, in addition to aromatic compounds, siloxanes and terpenes. Each of them can interact with the BoP and with the active catalyst layer of a SOFC system, causing a reversible or irreversible loss of performance. This is a function of the concentration value of such compounds. A cryogenic system will be considered. In fact, more works are required from the scientific literature on this topic, especially on the study of trace compounds condensable phase. It is required the identification of the temperature level in order to feed a SOFC with no performance loss. It will be considered first of all the main detrimental compounds for SOFC systems, in combination with the higher concentration level of VOCs. The study will focus on the literature review and on the thermodynamic modeling with the aim to identify, for each compound considered, the best temperature level in order to guarantee a biogas suitable for a SOFC system.
