FREE CREDITS (8 CFU)
You can acquire free credits with the following training activities:   For all course allocations subject to merit ranking lists
You have to choose your preferred courses within the  deadlines mentioned here below. Such deadlines are also indicated in the  academic calendar and they are different for courses offered in first or second semester.   In order to be able to express your preferences, upon definition of your Annual Personal Study Plan, you must have inserted the names and generic codes of each course you wish to attend  (available on the Teaching Portal, under the following section: “Offerta formativa – Piano degli studi – Programmi dei corsi”/”Course catalogue – Curriculum – Course Syllabi”). From your personal page of the Teaching Portal, go to “SEGRETERIA ON-LINE”, select “ACCEDI”/”ACCESS” from the box “COMPILA PIANO CARRIERA – CARICO DIDATTICO / FILL IN PSP/APSP” and express your preferences.   It might happen that several students with the same position in the rankings choose the same Optional course but available places are not sufficient to satisfy all requests. In this case the course will be offered to those students who have the highest number of exams passed with honours; subsequently, remaining places will be randomly allocated by a computerized draw.  

When to express your order of preference

First semester courses:
  • from 18th July to 1st October 2016 (first phase – merit ranking list)
  • from 7th October 2016 at 10.00 a.m.  (second phase - selection of courses with available seats)
 Second semester courses  
  • from 16th to 23rd February 2017 (first phase – merit ranking list)
  • from 28th February 1st March at 10.00 a.m. until 7th March 2017 (second phase - selection of courses with available seats)

The merit ranking list is calculated as follows: 

(overall weighted average of the Bachelor’s degree * 180) + [(V1 * CFU1) + (V2 * CFU2) + (Vn + CFUn)] ____________________________________________________________________________________________________________               number of semesters from first enrolment in the university system    

The number of semesters is calculated starting from the first enrolment in the university system. The score is calculated taking into account only those exams that were recognized and validated by Politecnico di Torino.   

How to indicate your order of preference

Course allocation on the basis of merit
Log into your personal page of the Teaching Portal, go to the section “SEGRETERIA ON-LINE”, then select “ACCEDI/ACCESS” from the box named “COMPILA PIANO CARRIERA – CARICO DIDATTICO/FILL IN YOUR PSP /APSP”. You will be redirected to a new page offering a wide range of choices related only the generic codes in your Annual Personal Study Plan. You can establish the order of preference using the arrows or dragging and dropping the course names, as illustrated in picture no.1:

You can repeat this procedure until the closure of the period dedicated to the definition of the Annual Personal Study Plan.

Choice of courses with residual seats (after the allocation on the basis of merit)

If, for any reason, you haven’t chosen your free credits by the deadline, you will be offered the possibility to choose a single preference among the courses with residual seats.    

Log into your personal page of the Teaching Portal, go to the section “SEGRETERIA ON-LINE”, then select “ACCEDI/ACCESS” from the box named “COMPILA PIANO CARRIERA – CARICO DIDATTICO/FILL IN YOUR PSP /APSP”. The system will show the list of courses with residual seats, as illustrated in picture no.2:

In this phase you should pay careful attention to the course you are selecting.  In fact, once you confirm your choice, it cannot be modified.  

SPECIALIZING WORKSHOPS (allocation on the basis of merit)
 
Specializing workshops for the Master’s degree programmes of the Collegi of Architecture, Design,  Urban Studies and Planning are assigned on the basis of merit, taking into account the preference order expressed by each student and the number of places available for each workshop.   We remind you that procedures for the choice of specializing workshops will be activated before the beginning of second semester. In order to be able to express your preferences, upon definition of your Annual Personal Study Plan, you must have inserted the names and generic codes of each course you wish to attend, within the deadlines illustrated in the academic calendar.  

Exams that have been anticipated from the Master’s degree programme will not count towards the calculation of the average grade.

The calculation of the merit score is based on the exams passed within the September 2016 examination session.    

You are allowed to express your preferences only if you have inserted the generic code “01RQDPQ - Workshop “ in your Annual Personal Study Plan.

When to express your order of preference for specializing workshops


Master’s degree students:
  • from 16th to 23rd February 2017 (first phase – merit ranking list)
  • from 28th February 1st March at 10.00 a.m. until 7th March 2017 (second phase - selection of courses with available seats)

INTRODUCTORY WORKSHOPS (3 CFU)
If you are enrolled in a Master’s degree programme of the Collegio di Architettura, or if you are a student of  the Bachelor’s degree programme in Architettura and Architettura/Architecture, and you anticipate some first-semester courses, you can get 3 free credits attending one of the introductory workshop offered by Politecnico. If you want to attend these introductory workshops, you must insert the corresponding generic code in your Annual Personal Study Plan. The generic code is available on the Teaching Portal – Manifesto degli Studi – Piano degli Studi/Curriculum.   Please note that Introductory Workshops are capped. Therefore, once the maximum number of places has been reached, you will be to choose only among those workshops that still have residual seats.
 
When to choose Introductory Workshops
From 27th September at 4.00 p.m. to 28th September 2016 at 4.00 p.m.

How to choose Introductory Workshops
In the home page of the Teaching Portal, choosing the tab “MAIN” or “LA MIA DIDATTICA”, you will see the picture illustrated here below.   In order to make your choice, log into your personal page of the Teaching Portal and select  the desired Workshop. You need to click on the desired Workshop from the home page of the Teaching Portal (tab “MAIN” or “SEGRETERIA ON –LINE”)


Please note that Introductory Workshops will not be assigned to students on the basis of academic merit. Therefore you should pay careful attention to your selection. In fact, once you confirm your choice, it cannot be modified.

Once the maximum number of places available for each workshop has been reached, you will be to choose only among those workshops that still have residual seats. If all workshops are full, you will not be able to make any choice.   If you had correctly inserted the workshop code in your Annual Personal Study Plan, but you are unable to make your choice because the workshop is full, you will be able to modify the workshop code and substitute it with other activities available in the Curriculum. For this operation, you need to go to the Office of Student Services located at the Castello del Valentino

LEARNING ACTIVITIES OUTSIDE THE UNIVERSITY
The rules for the acquisition of free credits through external training activities are published  in the Course catalogue, Curriculum, under the section  “Training activities outside the University”.  

RESEARCH ESSAY
The critical historical Research essay is not assigned to students on the basis of a merit ranking list. When you define your Annual Personal Study Plan, you need to insert the name and code shown on the Teaching Portal  “Offerta formativa – piano degli studi – programmi dei corsi”.  /“Course catalogue – Curriculum – course syllabi”.

DESIGN UNIT 3  -  allocation on the basis of merit (reserved to students who have already passed two compulsory design units)
When you insert the Design Unit 3, carrying 14 credits, in your Annual Personal Study Plan, you are choosing 6 credits belonging to your major and 8 free credits. The Design Unit 3 can be chosen among the Design Units worth 14 credits offered in first semester. It is assigned on the basis of the order of preference expressed by each student and the number of available places. If the number of students interested in the same Design Unit is greater than the number of available places, allocations will be made on the basis of merit. If you are interested in a Design Unit 3 (14 credits), on top of the other two that you have already attended, you need to insert in your Annual Personal Study Plan the following code: 01OXBPQ - Terza unità di progetto. The Design Unit 3 cannot include any module referred to your major that was already included in the previous two Design Units.  

The calculation of the merit score is based on the exams passed within the July 2016 examination session.

When to express the order of preference for Design Unit 3

From 18th July  to 1st October 2016 (merit ranking list)

COMPETITIVE SPORTING ACTIVITIES (3 CFU)
If you play a sport at a high competitive level while you are studying at the university, you can ask for the recognition of this activity at any time of your career. The request shall be submitted from your personal page of the Teaching Portal.  

STUDENT TEAM ACTIVITIES 
If you participate in the activities of a student team, you can ask for the recognition of this activity. The request shall be submitted from your personal page of the Teaching Portal. The team leader will have to certify the nature of your activity and the amount of time you have dedicated to it. On the basis of such information the Supervisor of your degree programme will decide whether to accept your recognition request and evaluate the number of credits you will be assigned (3 or 6 credits). INTERNSHIP

Internships do not carry any academic credit, except for internships funded by the “Erasmus + Traineeship” scholarship provided by Politecnico.
