Internal transfers - Bachelor's degree programmes

In order to be allowed to move to another degree programme and/or system (ordinamento) you must meet certain requirements which can be different according to the programme/system of origin and destination.

If you are enrolled in a Bachelor’s degree programme at Politecnico and you want to transfer to another programme, you must meet the admissions language requirements illustrated in table A attached to the Call for admissions to the Bachelor’s degree programmes of the Engineering Area a.y. 2017/2018.

We remind you that you are allowed to transfer internally from a degree programme taught in Italian to one taught in English, or viceversa:
  • only one time during your academic career;
  • only if you have not taken nor registered any exams of second-year courses (even in case you are a continuing student enrolled in years following the first).

We also remind you that you cannot apply for an internal transfer during your first year. Moreover, you cannot withdraw from studies and subsequently enrol in a new programme during the same year.

Internal transfers between Bachelor’s degree programmes of the Engineering area (belonging to the system established by Ministerial Decree No.  270/04)

In order to move to a new Bachelor’s degree programme of the Engineering area, you can apply for an internal transfer IF you meet the following academic requirements:
  • an internal transfer to a new Bachleor’s degree programme in Engineering (except for Industrial Production Engineering) is possible only if you have obtained at least 28 credits in the following subjects within the September examination session: Mathematical Analysis I, Chemistry, Computer Science, Physics I and Geometry/Linear Algebra and Geometry. For transfers to programmes offered in English, you must have the IELTS 5.0 certificate or another certificate accepted by Politecnico in substitution for IELTS.
  • for an internal transfer from any Engineering Bachelor’s degree programme to the programme in Industrial Production Engineering, you must pass all the exams that are still pending  within the September examination session. Given the peculiarity of this course, if you enter by means of an internal transfer, you will be able to study abroad at a partner University in the year which follows the one in which the transfer took place.
  In case you do not meet the above mentioned requirements, you will have to take the admissions test and conveniently place yourself  in the ranking list.

In order to transfer to a programme that has a different denomination, you are required to take the admissions test and conveniently place yourself on the merit ranking list.
