COURSES SUGGESTED BY THE DEGREE PROGRAMME (not assigned by merit)

If you are interesed in attending a course suggested by the degree programme and indicated in the Teaching portal (see the Curriculum - Manifesto degli Studi - Free Credits), when you define your Annual Personal Study Plan, you will insert the code of the course you wish to attend, since such courses are not assigned on the basis of merit rankings.
SPECIALIZING WORKSHOPS (8 CFU) - allocated by merit ranking
Specializing Workshops in common for the Master’s degree programmes of the Collegio of Architecture ad Collegio of Design, are allocated to students on the basis of their academic achievement, taking into account the preference order expressed by every student and the number of places available for each workshop.
We remind you that it will be possible to choose the Specializing Workshops before the beginning of the second semester. You will be able to indicate your order of preference only if you had previously included the names and the generic codes of the courses during the preparation of your APSP which must take place before the deadline illustrated in the academic calendar.
Exams that have been anticipated from the Master’s degree programme will not count towards the calculation of the average grade.

The merit ranking list is calculated as follows:
(overall weighted average of the Bachelor’s degree * 180) + [(V1 * CFU1) + (V2 * CFU2) + (Vn + CFUn)] ________________________________________________________________________________________                                                        6 + Master Course number of semesters

The number 6 refers to the minimal number of needed semesters to attain the Bachelor's Degree.
The Master Course number of semesters is calculated starting from the first enrolment. The score is calculated taking into account only those exams that were recognized and validated by Politecnico di Torino.

How to indicate your order of preference

You can indicate your order of preference only if you had previously included the names and the generic codes of the courses during the preparation of your APSP. The names and the generic codes are available in the curriculum of your Master’s degree programme on the Teaching Portal.
Log into your personal page of the Teaching Portal, go to SEGRETERIA ON-LINE, then select ACCEDI/ACCESS and click on COMPILA PIANO CARRIERA – CARICO DIDATTICO/FILL IN YOUR PSP /APSP.

It might happen that several students with the same position on the ranking list choose the same Optional course, but places are not sufficient to satisfy all requests. In this case the course will be offered to those students who have the highest number of exams passed with honours; subsequently, remaining places will be randomly allocated by a computerized draw.

You will be allowed to express your preferences only if you had previously  inserted in your APSP the following generic code: 01RQDPO – Specializing Workshop.
Allocation by merit ranking
Upon completion of your PSP/APSP, you will be redirected to a new page.
From this page you can express your preferences only for the courses which have a generic code in your APSP.
You can set the order of preference using the arrows or dragging and dropping the courses, as illustrated in picture no.1:
You can repeat this procedure until the closure of the period dedicated to the definition of the Annual Personal Study Plan.

When indicate the preferences order of Specializing workshops
From 0,00 a.m. of 14th December 2018 to 11.59 p.m. of 18th December 2018
(merit ranking list considering the exams passed within the examination session of September 2018).

Choice of courses with residual seats (after merit-based course allocation)
If, for any reason, you haven’t chosen your Specializing Workshops  before the deadline, you will be offered the possibility to choose a single preference among the courses with residual seats.
The selected Specializing workshop will be added to the APSP and it will be visible after the update of the Teaching Portal.

Log into your personal page of the Teaching Portal, go to “SEGRETERIA ON-LINE”, then select “ACCEDI/ACCESS” from the box named “COMPILA PIANO CARRIERA – CARICO DIDATTICO/FILL IN YOUR PSP /APSP”. The system will show the list of courses with residual seats, as illustrated in picture no.2:
In this phase you should pay careful attention to the course you are selecting. In fact, once you confirm your choice, it cannot be modified.

DESIGN WORKSHOPS
Social communication workshop  –  Social design workshop
Students enrolled in the Master's programme in "Sistemic Design" who have inserted in the APSP the codes 01PCRPO Social communication workshop  –  01PCQPO Social design workshop, will be able to choose among the workshops suggested by their degree programme.

You cannot attend in the same academic year the two workshops: 01PCRPO Social communication workshop  –  01PCQPO Social design workshop. As a consequence, such generic codes must be inserted one in first year and one in second year, respectively. Therefore, since these workshops are offered in the same period, you cannot attend more than one workshop during each academic year.

Please note that Design workshops are capped (limited to a restricted number of students): when the maximum number of students is reached, you will be able to choose only workshops that still have available places.

How to choose design workshops
In the home page of the Teaching Portal, tab “MAIN” or “LA MIA DIDATTICA”, you will see the picture shown below:
When you click on “Visualizza elenco workshop” / See the workshops list,  the system wil redirect you to a workshops table which illustrates available workshops and places.
Select the Design workshop you are interested in (the table below is shown as an example):
After you have selected the workshop you are interested in, the registration procedure will be enabled:
Click the button "CONTINUA"/ "CONTINUE" if you wish to confirm your registration, or click on "INDIETRO"/"BACK" to return to the list
Considering that these workshops are not allocated to students on the basis of merit, you must pay attention to the Design workshop you choose. In fact, once you confirm you choice, you will no longer be able to modify it.

When to choose Design workshops:
The list of the Design workshops will be published in the on-line Notice Board of each degree programme as soon as it becomes available.
The time frame of the workshops choice is usually set at least one week after the
publication of the workshop list.
Details will be published in the on-line Notice Board of each degree programme.
LEARNING ACTIVITIES OUTSIDE THE UNIVERSITY
Politecnico can recognize 3, 4, 5, 6, 8, 10 or 12 academic credits (ECTS) depending on the kind of activity. Politecnico can recognize more than one activity during the course of your studies.
If you are going to participate or have participated in external learning activities (training courses, workshops, Summer or Winter Schools,…) which are relevant and coherent with your educational path, you can ask for the recognition of this activity. The request shall be made through a specific procedure called ‘Approvazione attività esterne’/Approval of external activities, available under the Segreteria on line section of your personal page.
You will have to upload the activity supporting documents  (agenda, contents and  duration).  The Programme Academic Coordinator will decide whether to accept your request and how many credits you will be granted.
COMPETITIVE SPORTING ACTIVITIES (3 CFU)
Politecnico can recognize up to a maximum of 3 academic credits, only one time during the entire duration of your studies  (Bachelor’s or Master’s degree programme).
If you achieve outstanding results in competitive sporting activities while you are studying at the university, you can ask for the recognition of this activity at any time of your academic career. The request shall be made through a specific procedure called ‘Approvazione attività esterne’/ Approval of external activities, available under the "Segreteria on line" section of your personal page.
As a general rule, the term “outstanding results in competitive sporting activities” refers to:
a) athletes called into the Italian national team of disciplines which have a federation approved by CONI and are recognized as Olympic sports.
b) absolute champions or champions of division in Italian championships, or medalists in European /World championships  in one of the disciplines that have a federation approved by CONI and are recognized as Olympic sports.

STUDENT TEAM ACTIVITIES
Politecnico can recognize 3, 6 or 12 academic credits, only one time during the Bachelor’s degree programme and only one time during the Master’s degree programme
If you are actively involved in a student team, you can ask for the recognition of this activity. The request shall be made through a specific procedure called ‘Approvazione attività esterne’/Approval of external activities, available under the Segreteria on line section of your personal page. The team leader will have to certify the nature of your collaboration and the amount of time that you have dedicated to it. On the basis of such information the Faculty member in charge of your Personal Study Plan (referente del piano carriera)  will decide whether to accept your request and how many credits you will be granted.
