Description The solar cells of new (third) generation represent the right balance between efficiency, sustainability and low costs. In particular, our research group has recently shown that it is possible to use water as the main component of solar cells, thus knocking down the cost and the environmental impact.
This thesis is aimed at the development of materials for the realization of photovoltaic/photoelectrochemical aqueous solar cells. The candidate will work in both the DISAT department laboratories and in the laboratories of the University of Turin (NIS Center of Excellence). We point out that the NIS is an internationally renowned center and working there for a thesis project is a valuable enrichment for your CV. The candidate will deal with the preparation of electrolytes and/or electrodes (polymeric materials and/or inorganic nanostructured ones), characterization of materials, assembly of prototypes and their testing.
If the candidate possesses a scholarship or private fundings, he/she can spend a period of study abroad in one of the laboratories connected with the research group of the thesis supervisor.
The thesis work will be adapted accordingly to the candidate's profile: chemical engineering, materials engineering, energy engineering, environmental, nanotechnology.

Notes The candidate will work on a work line currently active in the research team, gaining the experience of working in the field of applied research in an academic laboratory.
It is strongly recommended to start the thesis when the lessons attendance is concluded.
