Students who enrolled in the 2016/2017 a.y.

As of the 2016/2017 a.y., the possession of the IELTS certificate with a minimum score of 5.0, or equivalent or higher certificate, is an admission requirement for entrance to the Master’s degree programmes in Architecture Construction and City, Architecture for Sustainable Design and Architecture for Heritage Preservation and Enhancement.
Please refer to the provisions illustrated in the “Apply” section of the Teaching Portal.

Students who enrolled up to the 2015/2016 a.y.

If you are a student who enrolled in a Master’s degree programme up to the 2015/2016 academic year, and you do NOT hold the English certificate required by Politecnico di Torino (IELTS with minimum score 5.0, or equivalent or higher certificate), you will have to get it before you register for the Final Examination, as it is a “graduation requirement”.

All students enrolled at Polkitecnico di Torino can register for the English examination in order to get the English certification, by paying a 120,00 Euro fee.
On the webpage of the Language Centre (CLA) you can learn about the IELTS sessions available for registration through Politecnico for the 2016/2017 a.y.

If, upon enrolment, you had self-declared the possession of an IELTS 5.0 certificate  or any other certification at an equivalent level, you must show the original certificate to the Office of Student Services on the day you receive your smart card and complete the enrolment procedure. The Office of Student Services will make a copy of your certificate and return the original back to you. The English language certificate will be recorded together with your personal details.

The equivalence for other certificates has been established by the CLA. The table of equivalences is available on the CLA webpage.

You are exempt from the possession of the IELTS 5.0 certificate if you fall under one of the following categories (provided that, upon enrolment, you turn in a stamped declaration/certificate written on official letterhead):
  • you have attended for at least one school year a higher education institute in which the medium of instruction is English. In this case the school must release a certificate stating that” The medium of instruction is English”;
  • you hold a foreign high school diploma which is recognized by the Italian Ministry of Education and Research as equivalent to the Italian “diploma di maturità”, or a higher qualification awarded by a higher education institute in which the medium of instruction is English. In this case the school must release a certificate stating that” The medium of instruction is English";
  • you hold a Bachelor's degree awarded by a university in which the medium of instruction is English. In this case the university must release a certificate stating that” The medium of instruction is English”.
