In the first part of the module the issues concerning the use of sensors for the control of additive manufacturing systems and the basic knowledge of the theory of sensors will be analyzed.  The second part of the module is dedicated to the study of the different types of existing sensors. 
The third part of the course will cover the basics of the technologies used to manufacture advanced sensors based on the principle of Micro Electro Mechanical Systems (MEMS). 
The fourth and final part of the module will address the use of MEMS technology for distributed  and embedded sensors.
