The module describes the methods and the technological processes to build/assemble the customer product: horizontal (methodologies, e.g., lean manufacturing), vertical (technological processes, e,g, joint technologies).
The first section of the module focuses on the manufacturing processes for automotive products and the following issues will be discussed in detail:
- Lean manufacturing
- World Class Manufacturing
- Elements of industrial automation
- Product lifecycle management
- Mechanical drawings, controls, drawing and software
- ICT tools for engineering (mechanical design, controls design and software design).
The second part of the module will provide basic knowledge of automation and technologies. Contents will focus in particular on the following issues:
- Automotive, from concept to car
- Body welding and assembly: line, builder process planning
- Powertrain, engine transmission process planning
- Fundamental of robot mechanics and control system
- Elements of controls architectures.
The third part of the module is devoted to the fundamental principles of manufacturing technologies. In this regard, the following issues will be described, explained and analyzed:
- Foundry technologies
- Powertrain: metalcutting and assembly technologies
- Body in white: joining and welding technologies
- Body in white: laser and vision systems technologies
- Technologies for adaptive solutions.
The last part of the module part addresses issues related to the quality, in particular will discuss the following topics:
- Partner companies' Quality Holistic Approach
- ISO 9000 standards concepts
- Statistical quality control concepts
- Industrial dimensional metrology concepts.
