Repeating the successful initiative organized in 2018, the Department of Electronics and Telecommunications (DET) will provide 12 grants worth 1.000€ each to students of the ICT for Smart Societies degree also for 2018/2019, in the framework of the Interdisciplinary Projects course.

We are proud to announce that Valerio Milite has been selected to participate in the “Seed of the Future” project, co-funded by Huawei Technologies Italia, in collaboration with the Italian Ministri of Education, University and Research (MIUR) and with Ministry of Economic Development (MISE). 
The Seeds for the Future 2018 project will take place from 9 to 20 April at Huawei's Centers of Excellence in China and will offer a broad portfolio of high-level training programs. The training methodologies will include classroom lessons, practical exercises, multimedia training and problem solving simulations.
Topics covered during the program focus on ICT technologies, such as 
  • wireless GSM / GPRS, EDGE, WCDMA, CDMA2000, EVDO, TD-SCDMA, and LTE wireless networking technologies;
  • core network technologies UMTS, GSM, GPRS, CDMA, NGN, traditional switches and IMS;
  • optical networking technologies, including a range of comprehensive network management (NMS) products 
  • Applications such as IPTV, Cloud Computing and the Internet of Things

munich_satellite_navigation_summit
5 Politecnico di Torino students have been awarded a travel grant granted by the European Commission through the European GNSS Supervisory Authority to attend the Munich Satellite Navigation Summit  on satellite navigation that will take place from 5 to 7 March 2018 in Munich. 

The student competition for grants was at the European level and the scholarship winners come from 9 different universities across Europe. All students' applications have been evaluated by an international team of satellite navigation experts.
The Italian students that won are enrolled in the:

- 3 second-level Master's students in Navigation and Related applications
- 1 student of the degree course in Communications and Computer Networks Engineering
- 1 student of the ICT for Smart Societies degree course

The Politecnico di Torino is the university with the highest number of winning students. The event in which they will participate is the Munich Satellite Navigation Summit is one of the most important events in Europe attended by representatives of the European Commission, the European Space Agency and many industries that work on the development of the Galileo navigation system.

On June 7, 2017, students from the ICT for Smart Societies and Communications and Computer Networks Engineering
had the opportunity to visit the research labs of TIM (www.tim.it).  
The visit lasted the whole morning and included the anechoic chambers for analysis of propagation effects, 
the wireless labs, the optical fiber systems, the smart city and smart home labs.

NEW ASSOCIATION “OSA STUDENT CHAPTER TORINO”
The association, made only by students, has the goal to disseminate and promote optics and photonics, the meeting between students interested in these disciplines and their professional development. We are part of OSA (The Optical Society), which is an international organization that promotes optics for more than 100 years and has around 20,000 members around the world.
We organize events at primary and secondary schools, we invite international expert to give talks in Politecnico, and we will send our members to international events where they can meet other student chapters.

L’Osservatorio InfoJobs con il Rapporto annuale sul Mercato del Lavoro in Italia fotografa un 2014 dinamico, con un aumento delle offerte di lavoro del 35% sull’anno precedente come certificato da Nielsen Job Dynamix, e caratterizzato da buone opportunità di inserimento e crescita all’interno del mondo del lavoro per i profili in linea con le esigenze del mercato.
Tra i settori più dinamici, Internet, programmi e servizi informatici mantiene la testa della classifica con il 23,4% delle offerte dirette pubblicate sul sito InfoJobs, seguito da Telecomunicazioni con il 17,9%

for  Engineering - Electrical & Electronic
The prestigious "QS World University Rankings" has just published the new rankings for 2014. For the category "Engineering - Electrical and Electronic", Politecnico di Torino is the top Italian university, classifying 38th in the worldwide ranking, and 9th in Europa,  first in Italia, followed by Politecnico di Milano, and University of Sapienza, Rome.
